Coolest Hello Kitty Cake

I made the Hello Kitty Cake (strawberry pink, of course!) in a 9×13 pan and cut out the shape using a picture I got online. I frosted the top and sides with buttercream frosting and a star tip. The nose was a yellow peanut M&M. I had planned on using brown peanut M&Ms for the eyes, but after searching through many bags I only had two, and they were completely different shapes (maybe Hello Kitty could be winking?)

I ended up using two Hershey kisses for the eyes, shaved a bit with a knife so they’d be oval-shaped, flipped upside down and pressed into the cake. I put the candles at an angle where the whiskers go (not pictured), black candles are easy to find in the “over the hill” section of a card shop.

It was easy to make, and most importantly, my daughter was tickled.
