Coolest Hello Kitty Cupcakes Birthday Cake

My daughter Morgann loves Hello Kitty, so when I planned her 3rd birthday, the theme was a no brainer!

For this homemade Hello Kitty cupcakes birthday cake I baked up a few dozen vanilla cupcakes and went wild on the decorations! For each Hello Kitty face, I rolled out some pure white fondant and sprinkled with granulated sugar for “sparkle”. I used a small tulip shaped cookie cutter (flattening out the middle “point” to make a cat head-shaped cutter) to make each face.

I rolled pieces of black fondant thin for the whiskers and formed the bows out of bits of pink fondant. I used decorating gels in black and yellow for the eyes and nose. I frosted the cupcakes in white buttercream and piped with a star tip yellow and pink tinted buttercream around the edges. I placed one fondant Kitty face on each cupcake and to finish added flower sprinkles on the frosting border.

These were a huge hit!
