Coolest Hello Kitty Princess Cake

I made this Hello Kitty Princess Cake for my granddaughter’s 4th birthday. I found the picture on a website selling wall decals. It is a Pillsbury “Funfetti” cake mix made in a 9 x 13 pan. I used a white decorator frosting made with 3/4 cup Crisco, 2 t. clear vanilla, 1 t. salt, 1 bag sifted C&H powdered sugar, and boiling hot water to spreading consistency. No butter or margarine. I’ve used this recipe for over 30 years and my family really likes it. It also makes a true white frosting when you use clear vanilla.

I used Wilton neon food coloring and purchased black frosting. I used small and medium writing and star tubes. I enlarged and printed the picture, cut it out and traced around it onto the cake. I used a large sewing needle to pierce holes within the design. I used the black frosting to “draw” the picture and filled it in mostly with a small star tubes. My granddaughter LOVED this cake.
