Homemade Herbie the Love Bug Birthday Cake
Herbie the Love Bug was a vehicle that was put into a few movies years and years ago. Most young children might have seen the "Herbie Fully Loaded," movie that starred Lindsey Lohan. For my younger brother's 3rd birthday, I thought hard about what I could make his cake look like, or a certain character I could use. One day he had come to me and asked me to make a Herbie the Love Bug Birthday Cake and I was extremely excited to get started.
To make the cake I had used a car shaped tin made for making cakes, vanilla frosting, red and blue fruit roll-ups, gray sprinkles, gum paste, and chocolate doughnut holes. Gum paste is a sticky but flexible and edible item you can shape into anything you want. For this cake we cut out circles and used black icing to write the numbers. We also used the gum paste to make the white outer ring on the tires or the doughnuts.
This cake was simple, fun, and easy to make. You can make this cake with any type of batter. (Vanilla, chocolate, etc.) However, it is better for you to use vanilla or any other light colored batter, so it is easier to cover with the vanilla frosting. All I can say is have fun making this cake!
