Homemade Hogwarts Crest Cake
I started by sizing out a print out of the Hogwarts crest I got online. Once I blew it up to the size I wanted, I cut it out and used it as a template to trim my 10" round cake. Next I base iced in white traditional and added the house colors to the backround. Using my little spatula I added texture to the colors.
Next I added then gold trimmed and separated the color sections as well as adding the gold square for the hogwarts "H". Using a ribbon tip I added the top border, smoothing with a finger tip dipped in corn syrup (one of my new favorite tricks!).
Next I cut out the pictures of the house animals from the print out and traced them with a toothpick, followed the tracing with black frosting and filled with the appropriate color.
Somehow I managed to impress myself this time, lol! And my 6 year old is super psyched for his party this weekend!
