Homemade Bag Birthday Cake

I baked two 10inch round cakes, cooled and cut them in half for this Homemade Bag Birthday Cake. Then I iced between all of the layers and chilled overnight in the fridge.

I cut two straight edges, one on top and one on the bottom so the cake would stand on its own. I used royal icing to adhere the cake to the board. I crumb coated the cake, then covered the cake with marshmallow fondant that I tinted black with Wilton food coloring. The Dooney badge, make up and cell phone are all gum paste. The handles are fondant.

My friend loved this cake!
