Coolest Homemade Castle Cake

My daughter wanted a “Royal Ball” for her 4th birthday. Since we were having both knights (boys) and princesses (girls), I wanted to make a Homemade Castle Cake that was not too girly. We used some of the cakes on this website for inspiration and came up with a more gender-neutral cake.

The bottom layer is 2 9-inch funfetti cakes. The top layer is 2 8-inch chocolate cakes. Both cakes were frosted with white icing. Each tower is 2 safety cones dipped in melted white chocolate chips with sugar cones on top also dipped in white chocolate.

Candy toppings can be anything you want or have on hand. We used M&M’s around the towers (using icing as “glue”). We then used mini marshmallows around the safety cones. The flags on top are fruit by the foot strips cut into flag shapes and wrapped around toothpicks. All windows and doors on the cake are also fruit by the foot.

The candy decorations around the bottom layer are gobstoppers, and the candy around the top layer are gumballs. We used the sprinkles from the funfetti icing on the top and topped it off with a fun “4” candle. Our daughter loved it and so did the guests!
