Homemade High School Musical Birthday Cake

I made this Homemade High School Musical Birthday Cake using a square jam and cream sponge cake covered with marzipan and left for a few days to set. In the meantime I coloured some icing yellow and using stencils, cut out the HSM and stars. I put silver balls on the letters to look like lights.

I then covered the cake with white ready to roll icing and stuck on the HSM and stars using cooled boiled water. I then rolled and cut out the curtains and swags using red icing I had purchased, and stuck these on using cooled boiled water.

I then wrote the name and number in red writing icing(gel). I did want to take the curtains down the sides but thought it was a bit too adventurous for a 1st attempt. I'm really pleased with the outcome though.
