Coolest Homemade Thomas the Train Cake

I have been doing cakes as a side business for about six months now and love experimenting with different decorating techniques. A co-worker of mine asked if I would do a Thomas the Train cake for her stepson’s fifth birthday; she had seen a picture that looked similar to this one.

She bought the topper and I’d like to learn to do toppers out of molding chocolate. I used marshmallow fondant, which works great and tastes good, but with which it is difficult to get really bold, dark colors. This cake was a white almond, sour cream cake with white chocolate mousse filling.

I had a lot of fun with this cake.
