Homemade Hungry Caterpillar Cake
This Hungry Caterpillar Cake was for my son's 1st birthday. He has a caterpillar that he carries everywhere so it made sense that his first cake would be a copy of his best friend.
I made the body using a bundt cake cut into sections iced with 2 shades of green icing. The sections are held in place with toothpicks. His head, covered in red icing, is a mini bundt cake. The antennae are made from Laffy Taffy. Eyes and nose were made from Necco wafers which I dyed with yellow food coloring and M&Ms and the feet were Hershey Kisses.
I had it in the freezer since it was for a July birthday party. When thawing out, the antennae started to droop, so I would add them before presenting if you need to keep it cool first.
