I made this Iggle Piggle cake for my son’s first birthday.
It was a three packet buttercake mix, made in a baking tray. I then made a template of Iggle Piggle out of baking paper, placed it on top of the cake, and cut the shape out. I then iced it with two shades of blue buttercream icing.
The blanket, hair and soles of the feet were made with premade fondant that I coloured red. The eyelids, nose and mouth were blue-tinted fondant and the eyeballs were black fondant, with a small white ball for the glimmer in his eye. The white part of the eye is just straight fondant.
I then added a bit of black colour to some leftover blue icing to make it a greyish colour and piped this around the whole body. Finally, I used store-bought black icing gel to write “Ethan is One!”. “Happy Birthday” was too long and too hard to write on the wavy icing.
