Homemade Imagination Movers Birthday Cake
My son was set on having an Imagination Movers party for his 4th birthday, and he especially loves Warehouse Mouse. There are no party supplies besides some print at home options from the Disney website, so we had to get creative with our Imagination Movers Birthday Cake.
The bottom layer is a double 14” round vanilla buttermilk cake, and the top layer is a double 10” round. Each were filled with raspberry preserves and placed in the freezer for 30 minutes for easier carving. I used a serrated knife to cut out the gear notches, and then covered them with a crumb coat of almond flavored Crisco-based decorator frosting. After drying, I frosted them with tinted blue and yellow frosting, smoothed them out with an offset spatula dipped in hot water, and let them dry before assembling. Three bamboo skewers were cut to size to hold the top gear on tightly to the bottom.
I used a coloring page of Warehouse Mouse to sketch his picture in with a toothpick on the top layer, and filled him in with a star tip and a writing tip for his hair. To finish off the seams I piped a red ball border. This cake looks very simple, but getting the frosting smooth in the notches was not fun. However, the birthday boy was thrilled, and it was a cute party- each guest got a “Mover” shirt we made with iron-on transfers with their names on it.
I had quite a bit of Mouse frosting leftover, so I kept it in the piping bags, and on his actual birthday I made a cheesecake (Warehouse Mouse’s favorite!) and piped another picture of him on top.
