Jack-O-Lantern Cake

To make this Jack-O-Lantern cake I baked 3 10 inch chocolate layers. When they were cooled I filled and stacked the cake. Then I carved the rounded edges and undercut the bottom. I also carved out a depression in the top for the stem.

I covered it in vanilla buttercream and put it in the fridge to firm up. When it was cooled I covered it in orange fondant and used my pastry wheel to make lines from the top down.
Then the fun part, I cut the shapes for the face out of black fondant and stuck them on with a light brushing of water. The stem was formed from brown fondant and also stuck on with a light brushing of water.

Finally the leaves were made from green fondant and added randomly to finish it off.
