Homemade John Deere Birthday Cake

A fun cake pan and a lot of special talent from my mother always makes for a fantastic Birthday Cake! This John Deere Birthday Cake took her about 2 hours to decorate.

We made the cake using the John Deere cake pan and from there it was all about the decorating.
She poured chocolate into the wheels of the tractor pan and placed then into the freezer for a few hours which was a great tip from another online friend which made the wheels simple! She also made green chocolate for the tractor window using white chocolate and food coloring. Just be sure to spray a little bit of cooking spray in the pan before pouring the chocolate.

The trailer was easy with a sheet cake she cut to size and two cup cakes for the wheels. Of course the hay bails are the prepackaged Rice Krispie treats.

Another great tip from her is to put a banana into the cake mix. It gives the cake a subtle flavor of banana and it adds just enough moisture to the cake to keep it from getting dry.
