Coolest John Deere Tractor Cake

My Dad John, collects tractors, toy and real. They are his life. I was asked to create a John Deere Tractor cake for his 71st birthday. I included my memory of him and I as a child with him on the tractor.

I used gumpaste, fondant, buttercream with a yellow cake dyed green and yellow for the 4 layers. Tractor and accessories all done by hand.

I never went to school to bake or had any professional training. I was very happy with the end results, although very time consuming to create with such details. I hope you enjoy seeing it.

  2. As a cake maker myself, I can tell by looking that a lot went into this cake. I had the same idea in mind for a cake for my father-in-law, with the John Deere tractor and the garden. It’s really beautiful seeing the finished product. I was trying to find one for my 4 yr. old turning 5, because (like Grandpa) he wants a John Deere cake, and I saw yours while I was looking at some for him.
