Homemade Jungle Scene Cake

Homemade Jungle Scene Cake

For the 2nd birthday of my twins, the theme was zoo/jungle. We had around 30 guests and 12 kids. I baked 2 cakes for this jungle scene cake: - a 2-tier 16x12" rectangular vanilla cake with filling of vanilla pudding with fresh chopped strawberries and the other was 9" 3 tier round chocolate cake with whipped cream with crushed Oreos as the filling.

I made marshmallow fondant(MMF)a couple of days ahead. The night before the party, I covered both the cakes in green butter cream frosting, then rolled out the fondant and laid it on top.
Since I am not very good at piping icing, instead took a paintbrush and foam brush and directly started painting trees and shrubs on the fondant.

The water was blue icing gel and sand was brown sugar. Then I placed all the plastic animals and trees and completed the scene.

The Jungle scene cake was a huge hit and all the kids took home the animals as one of the favors!

The idea and it's execution reveal the depth of imagination and effort this lady [Nitya R.] has. Am sure the kids are now counting the next 364 days very eagerly for the next surprise!!

The cake is too cool for words! Looks like you have a lot of patience besides imagination. Wonder what the theme might be for the third birthday ...

Congrats and best wishes!
