Homemade Ladybug Birthday Cake
I made this Ladybug Birthday Cake for my friend's daughter's first birthday. This was my first attempt with fondant. I made marshmallow fondant, which was surprisingly easy to make. I colored some of it red and then placed it over the two round cakes I made using the Wilton ball shaped cake pan.
I shaped cupcakes for the head and covered them with black fondant. I also used this fondant for the stripe, spots and antenna. I am really happy with the outcome for my first experience with fondant.
I covered the tray with green tissue paper and cellophane to make it look like the ladybugs were sitting on a leaf.
