Homemade Ladybug Birthday Cake
Thanks for all the great birthday cake ideas! I modified off of the pictures I saw. For the body I used two glass bowls to bake the cake. I greased and floured it well and the cake slid right out. I cut off the tops so that they sat evenly and frosted the body and head with a whipped frosting. The extra batter was made into small and regular size cupcakes that I decorated to look like flowers.
I used m&m's candy in the center and tubes of decorating glitter gel to make the flower design. I wasn't brave enough to try and make red frosting nor did I want the staining mess of red, so I used red sugar crystals instead. I used extra frosting to attach mini Oreo cookies for the spots.
My daughter will be 2 so I used two long skinny candles as the antenna, I just happened to have some from Christmas that seemed to fit. I am so excited to show my daughter her homemade ladybug birthday cake. Thanks for the great ideas.
