Homemade Ladybug Birthday Cake

I made this Ladybug Birthday Cake for my daughter's first birthday. I baked a 13x9 sheet cake to use as the base, and then the Wilton ladybug pan to make the top cake. The majority of the cake was frosted with homemade buttercream frosting (recipe uses 1/2 cup butter(I used Country Crock), 1/2 cup Crisco, 1 tsp vanilla and 4 cups confectioner's sugar-recipe can be found on Wilton website, though I tend to use only 1-2 tsp of milk instead of tbsp) and using #16 star-tip and piping tip.

Everyone at the party commented on how cute the cake was! One word of advice, make sure you add a LOT of black food dye for the frosting, or else the black spots on the ladybug look too gray! Happy baking!
