Coolest Ladybug Cake

For my daughter’s first birthday we went with a ladybug theme. I used a Wilton Ladybug cake pan. I used Wilton Buttercream homemade icing. I found the recipe in the Beginners Wilton Cake Decoration booklet.

The cake was prepared by following the box directions two days before her party and frozen wrapped in foil. Confetti cake was used as the cake filling. Once the cake was baked and cooled I mixed the frosting colors of red, black, white and then a bright blue for the eyes. This was a piped cake that was for the guests.

For my daughter’s individual cake I used a heart-shaped cupcake pan using a chocolate cake mix. Once it was cooled I piped the pointed end in black with a black line going down the middle. I also piped black dots for the wings before I piped in the red to finish the wings. This was the perfect individual cake for her!

Very simply done and looks great!
