Homemade Ladybug Cake
This is a ladybug cake I made for my niece's birthday party. It was very fun to make. I took a Pyrex bowl and cooked the cake for the round ladybug. Then I made a base for it to sit on.
It was a 12 inch cake pan for the bottom. I covered the bottom and the red part of the ladybug with buttercream. I hand carved a leaf out of mm fondant. I also made small leaves for around the ladybug base to cover any bad spots. It gave it a really nice touch.
I made the spots, head, and legs with mm fondant. The head was a little difficult. I could have put a border around the bottom. I just forgot. Anyways, it's supposed to be sitting on dirt so I guess I can get away with that.
I left a space for the name, but my sister just said to use the candle and not worry about the name. The white part of the face and dew drops were fondant too. I also put shimmer dust on the dirt part of the cake and the dew drops. You can't really see that though.
