Homemade Ladybug Ice Cream Cake

Homemade Ladybug Ice Cream Cake

I made this Ladybug Ice Cream Cake for a friend's eight year old daughter's birthday party. Ahead of time, I used fondant to make the legs and antenna, as well as the eyes.

I also used red and yellow candy melts and the daisy flower lollipop molds to make the candy flowers. I prepared two boxes of chocolate cake mix as directed.

For the body, I used the Bake-N-Fill cake pan, and for the head I used the Mini Bake-N-Fill cake pan. I filled both cakes with cookies 'n cream ice cream. I iced the body in butter-cream icing tinted with red icing gel. The head was iced in butter-cream tinted with black icing gel.

I used butter-cream icing tinted two different shades of green and Wilton Tip #233 to pipe grass all over the top of a covered 10x14 cake board. I then placed the two cakes on the cake board. I then used chocolate candy melt wafers for the dots on the lady bug's body. I placed the eyes, antenna and feet, then placed the flowers to fill the rest of the space on the board.
