Ladybug was the theme of my daughter’s first birthday. I decided to make the ladybug look as if she was sitting in the grass. I am not a professional cake decorator so it isn’t perfect but fit the occasion perfectly.
I baked a basic 13 x 9 cake, covered it in homemade buttercream icing tinted green, tinted coconut flakes green for the grass. I then baked a 8″ round cake for the ladybug and one cupcake for her head. Again, covered the ladybug in the homemade buttercream icing tinted red and black. I used black pipe cleaners for the antenna. It was a hit with everyone!
