Homemade Larry the Cucumber Cake
I made this Larry the Cucumber Cake for my son's 3rd birthday. I used a store bought cake mix and made a 9x13 cake. I then cut out a "cucumber" shape on construction paper to serve as my shape to trace. I frosted it white then used green spray to cover the white frosting.
The eyes are hard boiled eggs sliced in half. Using a melon baller, I made a little divot on the oval side of the egg. I filled it with black icing for the pupil. Then I placed the eggs on the cake flat side down.
The nose was just left over from cutting the cucumber shape out of a 9x13 cake. I used black icing (like Wilton's from the store that you attach a decorating tip to) and free handed the mouth then used white icing for the tooth! It was the first of 5 Veggie Tales cakes I've made for my son!
