Coolest Les Paul Guitar Birthday Cake

This Les Paul Guitar Birthday Cake was my first attempt creating a fondant covered cake. I found a guitar drawing in a clip-art set that I already had, I sized it to about scale in Illustrator. I printed the template out and cut it out. I placed the template over 2, 1/2 sheet cakes laid end to end and cut out the cake.

I attempted to cover in one sheet of fondant for the entire guitar. Next time I will section the body from the neck as the fondant cracked a bit. I used white pre-made fondant and painted with brown gel paste food coloring thinned with lemon extract to make a faux wood effect.

All knobs, pick plate fret marks etc are hand done, out of fondant. Metallic pieces were panted with gold luster dust using lemon extract to liquefy. Silver dragees were used as well for the silver accent pieces.

  1. That is the best cake EVER! Wow that is creative.

I have played music for more than 20 years (guitar is my main instrument) and my mouth waters at the site of this cake.

Congratulations on a perfect cake. If I could have that for my birthday it would make my music creation station the “Coolest.”

    Warm wishes,
    Ryan
