Lightning McQueen Birthday Cake
My son really wanted a Lightning McQueen Birthday Cake for his 5th Birthday. I got thinking for days on how I would make it. I decided that I would bake the cake in two loaf tins, then once they had cooled I cut about 1/4 off one cake, that was going to be stacked on top of the other cake. I used the 1/4 that was cut as the spoiler which was firmly held into place with toothpicks.
I carved the shape of Lightning Mcqueen and covered him in butter cream then I draped red tinted ready-made icing over the top. I used powdered food colouring to colour the icing, which I purchased at a cake decorating store. The wheels are biscuits covered in ready-made icing.
I really enjoyed making this cake and my son was delighted when he saw it.
