Homemade Lightning McQueen Cake

Homemade Lightning McQueen Cake

My son is obsessed with the movie Cars. So I decided to make a 3D cake myself. It took me about 4 hours to carve and decorate this Lightning McQueen cake.

I used 2 loaf pans for the car, kept one whole and carved the roof, fenders and spoiler out of the other loaf pan. Used a 13X9 cake pan for the bottom. I used the Cars gels to color the buttercream frosting. I used white cake in the loaf and 13x9. I didn't need to use any supports under the car. Just toothpicks to hold the fenders and spoiler in place.

I think it turned out pretty good for not knowing what the heck I was doing. My son loved it and that's all that matters!

Good Job!!

You did a real good Job on this cake! Are the wheels made out of chocolate doughnuts? I made a Lightning Mcqueen cake for my Grandaughter and I made the wheels out of rice Krispie treats and covered them in black fondant. Thanks for your all your info.
