Homemade Lightsabre Cake Idea
This Lightsabre Cake Idea is a 5th birthday cake for a young Star Wars fan. The cake is made out of homemade Swiss-rolls for the blade rolled to decreasing diameter. The handle is made out of a sponge cake made in a loaf tin and shaped. It was all then covered in appropriate coloured fondant.
The little Star Wars figures are very rough (modelled out of fondant)- but thankfully five year old's are easily pleased. The fact that the cake was over 4 feet long made up for roughness around the edges!
I did the name as a run out (icing piped onto parchment and then peeled off) a few days in advance in something that vaguely approximated the Star Wars font.
