Homemade Lion Birthday Cake

This Lion Birthday Cake was made for my youngest grandson for his first birthday. It was a plain sandwich cake baked in a 9" tin. It is made of
10ozs self raising flour/10ozs caster sugar/10ozs soft margarine/1 teaspoon baking powder and approx 5 eggs or 10ozs of egg all mixed together with an electric mixer and baked for about an hour, depending on your oven, at approx 350degrees.

The cake was split and filled with raspberry jam and buttercream using buttercream made from butter (not marge) , icing sugar and a touch of lemon juice. It was then covered in white sugarpaste. The lion on the top was hand moulded from a picture I found on the web and the side designs were made by using Patchwork Cutters and FMM cutters.
