Homemade Little Mermaid Birthday Cake

This Little Mermaid Birthday Cake was made for my niece. I used a pudding basin for the base, and misshaped it to look more like a rock.

I used a Barbie doll with her legs removed, and used lolly sticks in place to secure into the cake. I made the tail, using her legs as a measure to ensure that it was to scale, and then made small fish scales using the end of an icing tip. I then covered it with blue lustre dust.

The shells were made with white chocolate, which I coloured, and set in chocolate moulds. The sea was coconut coloured blue.
