Homemade Little Mermaid Birthday Cake

My daughter's 4th birthday was an "under the sea" party. She wanted a Little Mermaid Birthday Cake.

This cake is a 14X11 sheet, with the hill made out of icing. Crushed graham cracker crumbs give it it's beachy look. Our mermaid is simply a Wilton cake doll. We happened to have a "top" that fit her from one of my daughter's mermaid dolls. We stuck the doll into the icing so she looked like she was sitting on the beach. Her tail is piped out of frosting using a flat tip.

The various sea plants and sea shells are made out out white chocolate and the fishies are Swedish Fish. The ocean was sprayed with blue decorating spray. The curvy candles added to the "wavy" look.
