Coolest Little Mermaid Cake 51

Barbie Mermaidia

I made this really cool Barbie Little Mermaid cake for my daughter's third birthday - what a hit!

Starting off with the Wilton Cake Form, 2 White Cake Mixes, 1 13 X 9 pan and lots of icing. I used the 'skirt' form as actually the sand mound where Barbie rests her tail and the 13 x 9 pan to make the water. When I placed Barbie in the mold, the mold broke a little which was fixed with some toothpicks and extra icing. Then we added some of Barbie's friends (the Fairies) and some aquarium plants to decorate the water and sand mound where the icing didn't fully cover.

The girls loved the cake and they all wanted a piece (I had purchased cupcakes, too). I can't wait to make an actual skirt Barbie next time, as my Grandmother always made them for me, even in my late teens! What a treat!
