Homemade Little Mermaid Princess Cake
I made this homemade Little Mermaid princess cake with 3 layers of chocolate cake, two layers were 10 inch round and the top layer I used a Pyrex bowl. After the cakes had cooled down I cut a hole in the middle of each layer so the doll could fit. I had to trim the cake to make it look more like a dress. I also wrapped the doll in plastic wrap so she wouldn't get all greasy.
I used buttercream frosting between the layers and also to cover the cake. Then I colored the fondant with green gel food coloring. I made the flowers out of gumpaste a couple of days before, and I hand painted them the day before I decorated it using purple gel food coloring with a little water and for the roses yellow food coloring with a little water.
After I laid the fondant on and smoothed it out I cut a hole out of the top to put the doll in. After I placed the doll in I placed the flowers on with a little frosting and just pressed them in. Then I piped on the top of the dress and the dots.
