Homemade Little Pony Cake

My just turned 4 yr old wanted a Rainbow Dash cake, so I took the picture from her Memory game and worked from there. I made 'paper cakes' from copier paper and laid them out, drew the template on them and adjusted accordingly. I ended up using 4 9x13 cakes and 4 8" rounds, so 6 boxes of cake mix to make this Little Pony Cake.

Once the cake was baked, I laid them out and cut them. I made the butter cream frosting and colored as I needed. To make the hair 'sparkle' (it was her only request) I colored regular sugar with food coloring and matched it to the colors on the hair. I free hand drew the eye and made black out of some of the left over colors to pipe around the edge for definition.

I did change the tattoo on the tush to her name and the number 4, instead of the rainbow and clouds that normally resides there.

Unfortunately, that did not make my daughter too happy - everyone else seemed to enjoy it. I tried to be as accurate as possible, with the hearts on the leg and in the shine of the eye. I was really pleased with the outcome.
T
here was a great reaction and I had such a good time making this Little Pony Cake!
