Luau Beach Party Cake

We had a Luau theme party for our 5 year old daughter. I stumbled upon this site and used the ideas I saw here to create this Luau beach party cake. I used 2 box cakes, 9X13 pan, stack cakes on top of each other. Ice in between and all around. I tinted half the vanilla icing with blue food color until I got the right shade.

I iced half in blue first to create the ocean, and the other in plain vanilla. I grated Nilla wafers for the beach sand right after icing so the crumbs would stick to the icing easily. Teddy grahams on pieces of fruit roll up for towels and a cocktail umbrella for shade. Gummy rings for tubes in the water and lifesavers for tubes on the beach.

Tree and flamingo from cake shop and I dyed coconut with green food coloring for the grass under the trees. Swedish fish and assorted gummy aquarium pieces accessorize the sides of the cake. The cake was a hit with our daughter, her guests and it was fun and easy too!
