Homemade Mack Truck Birthday Cake

I made this Mack Truck birthday cake for a dual birthday party for both of my boys. I used an extra long loaf pan from Wilton. I used about 1 1/2 cake mixes for this cake. I cut the front 1/3 part of the cake off to make the cab part of the truck. I set it a little bit apart from the body of the truck. I also cut a small wedge out of the top corner of the piece to make the engine area.

I had to build up the base of the tray so that I could put the Oreo cookie wheels on without having to cut them. I used an upside down foil broiler pan for the base and it worked pretty well. I piped the different frosting and colors onto it. I also used silver pipe cleaners for the truck (but be careful not to get any silver things on the cake...they're not edible!).

On the top I wrote "Happy Birthday" and put each boy's name and age on either side of the truck. On the back I wrote "Keep On Trucking".
