Homemade Magic Schoolbus Cake

Homemade Magic Schoolbus Cake

A Magic Schoolbus Cake for my 4 year old who is a huge fan of "The Magic Schoolbus" TV show. It is a 9x13 cake below. The bus cake was made from one and a half cake mixes baked for about an hour in an extra large (approx 12 x 4) loaf pan from a dollar store. I cut down the loaf pan to make it look like a bus, but it was too short, so I added another one inch layer of cake to the top of the loaf made from the remaining 1/2 cake mix.

I carved the top so it was rounded, iced with yellow (two layers to deal with crumbs), outlined in black, then filled in the windows, and drew Liz and Ms. Frizzle with icing. At my daughter's request, the students in the windows were replaced by Dora premade cake candies.
