Coolest Margarita Going Away Cake

I made this Margarita Going Away Cake to wish our supervisor good luck at her new assignment. I used the Wilton party hat cake pan. I used yellow cake. As with all cakes I make, everything is made from buttercream frosting. First I cut the ball of the hat in half and saved the rounded portion for the lime. I trimmed the hat portion into the stem of the margarita glass. I frosted the bottom of the now glass with the star tip in green.

Next I frosted the margarita with a yellow & leaf green mixture. I then blended in white frosting to the top of the glass to make it appear like margarita froth. I sprinkled the edge of the glass with white crystal sugar for margarita salt. I frosted the piece I set aside to make the lime. I used green gel icing to outline the lime & the stem of the glass. The leftover margarita icing was used to write the words. It was a HUGE hit at work.
