Homemade Mariposa Barbie Cake
This Mariposa Barbie Cake is my first ever 'Barbie' cake made for my friend's little daughter. I used six layers of vanilla sponge cakes, layered with buttercream. I then iced the cake with pink buttercream and decorated with a darker version using a piping bag. I then sprinkled butterflies and hearts and edible pink glitter over the dress.
I also iced the upper body of the doll after placing her in the cake. Using a thin satin ribbon I tied her wings in place around the dolls waist. These were made from clear transparencies painted with glitter glue.
She was thrilled with her cake and I was thrilled with the outcome!
