Max Rebo from Star Wars Birthday Cake
I made 2 qty 12" chocolate cakes for the main body of the Max Rebo from Star Wars Birthday Cake, and a bowl shaped Madeira for Max Rebo's body and then handed over the decoration to my fella who then used chocolate buttercream icing (add a little golden syrup to make it smoother and shinier) for the main cake and royal icing painted blue for the body of the character.
The head and arms were marzipan covered with royal icing, coloured to get the same colour as the body. Decorations in foam/jelly eggs with the white bits cut off, white chocolate buttons cut to shape, and silver gel icing. The speaker and drum machine were off-cuts of the Madeira cake fixed onto the top of the cake with skewers, and iced in the chocolate buttercream.
All in all a slightly obscure cake but for those Star Wars perfectionists in the know, it went down very well!
