Mickey Mouse Cake

Mickey Mouse Cake

I made this Mickey Mouse cake as a first birthday smash cake. Basically I made an 8" round cake and two cupcakes for the ears. I then used different colored buttercream for the icing. I drew on Mickey's features(eyes, mouth, nose) freehand and hoped for the best.

When I think back on this cake I should probably have used Oreo cookies for the black on Mickey's head instead of the black icing which became quite a mess on the little guy whom I made the cake for.

Overall I was pretty happy with the results and think Mickey was a big hit at the party!

I did make a Mickey Mouse cake using the crush oreo's, and it worked perfectly. I crumb coated with dark chocolate and sprinkled the oreo's. My son's 3 birthday was a hit!

great suggestion on oreos!

I am going to attempt to create the Mickey Mouse cake for my son's 1st birthday and was going to use black frosting as well. I would never have thought to use crushed Oreos and will definitely do that instead to avoid a highchair disaster!
