Homemade Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Cake
I made this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Cake for a friend's little boy's 1st birthday. The tiers are 7" and 9" and the clubhouse was actually baked in a Pyrex bowl. The frosting is colored buttercream. The "head" is painted Styrofoam balls. I piped in the windows to the clubhouse. All of the other shapes are Wilton colored fondant (the fondant tastes terrible, I don't recommend eating it.)
I cut the middle tier shapes free-hand, and the bottom "gears" were made using 2 different sized round cookie cutters. I cut the name out with a star cookie cutter and picked them with regular toothpicks. The name is piped on the stars in black buttercream.
I also made a tiny 4" smash cake for the birthday boy. It's frosted with white buttercream and everything else is piped on. I made little "Mickeys" around the cake with blue frosting dots.
