Homemade Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake
This Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake was inspired by one that I saw searching for cake ideas. I used 3 layers of 8" round cake for the bottom tier and 2 layers of a 6" round for the top.
Frost each tier with buttercream to prepare for fondant. I used ready made red fondant from Satin Ice for the top tier and air brushed the white fondant on the bottom tier with blue.
The Mickey ears are Nabisco Famous chocolate wafers covered in black ready made fondant and are attached with royal icing.
The stars were cut with cookie cutters out of gumpaste the night before and attached to plastic stirrers. I painted the name with food coloring and a fine tipped paint brush.
The decorations were all cut from fondant colored the appropriate color. I used circle cutters and piping tips to make the decorations and attached them with egg whites.
The characters (swirly straws) and the candles were purchased at the local party store.
The colors on this cake are what really make it stand out!
