Homemade Mickey Mouse Ears Disney Hat Cake
I made this Mickey Mouse ears Disney hat cake for my friend’s two year old son. I did it just like his own hat that he got at Disney World. I used the Wilton ball cake pan/mold for cap part and filled with 2 cups of Paula Dean’s pound cake recipe that you can find on the internet. I cut the ears from pieces of pound cake and iced them with a crumb layer the same as the cap.
I covered all pieces with black marshmallow fondant and then stuck the ears on with lollipop sticks. I cut out pieces of fondant to make the emblem and drew Mickey and wrote the words with food coloring pens. I shined up the whole thing with shortening and then wrote the birthday boys’ name on the back with white icing just as his hat was embroidered.
This homemade Mickey Mouse ears Disney hat cake was a small cake so I made cupcakes as well that I iced and then covered the tops with black fondant and attached Oreo cookies for ears using toothpicks (that was his Mom's idea).
