Homemade Mickeys Club House Cake
I made this cake for a friend of mines grandson. She definitely wanted the club house but Donald rather than Minnie as it was for a boy. I cooked the cake in a Pyrex bowl and cooked a further 2 82 round sponges.
I put them together with butter cream and cut the edges of the 8" sponges to smooth into the shape with the dome cake on the top. I then covered the whole homemade Mickeys Club House cake with quite thickly rolled red fondant icing. The thicker icing enabled me to hide any joins as the whole can be skimmed with a fondant smoother. I added the detail and rolled out the grass. I added yellow to mint green food colour paste to make the grass look really vibrant and covered the board.
The figures were made from marzipan, Donald had a thin layer of fondant over him (as marzipan is not the right colour), I then added the details such as the glove, again marzipan covered in white fondant, and the foot. The whole homemade Mickeys Club House cake took me about 3 hours to finish once it had cooled.
