Homemade Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake

Homemade Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake

This Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake was a birthday cake I did for a friend’s daughter. Each tier has 2 layers of cake with buttercream filling. I used a buttercream recipe from Wilton that is amazing and people always love.

The Minnie Mouse hat on top is made from sculpting rice krispie treats, head and ears are made separately, then covered them in black fondant. I used toothpicks to connect the ears. The other decorations, such as the mouse outlines and dots, are made by rolling fondant and cutting them out with tiny cutters found in fondant section of Michaels and using dab of icing to glue them on.

I made her bow the same way but curling each piece and making the center and letting it stand on its side for a while to dry out. I made the cakes and let them set up in the fridge while making the other decorations and it came out great.

I got the idea by looking online and seeing what I liked from different things and then drawing up a plan of my own.

Your cake is just what I was looking for. I love the idea of the Rice Crispy treats for the topper. My daughter will love this for her 2nd Birthday. She just loves "mimmi".

My Minnie Mouse cake variation.
by: Just Character-Cakes

Made this for my granddaughter's 4th B-day. I used a 8"and 12" round pan, and torted the cake into layers. Entire cake iced with buttercream (Wilton recipe). For hat I used doll cake pan and sculpted cake to shape of hat. For ears I made black royal icing with wedge at base to attach ears into cake after iced and covered with MMF. For icing, I made chocolate marshmallow fondant then added black color gel (Wilton). For remainder of cake,I used white chocolate melted into MM. Half recipe left white, Half recipe added red gel coloring. To get the red MMF really red, I add red food coloring to 3 tbsp of water that is added to confection sugar, then add red gel when kneading MMF. Tip to keep cake steady, use wood dowel rod sharpened with pencil sharpener and insert from top into cake board at bottom.
