Fat Furry Monkey Cake
We used one six inch circle pan for the head and an eight inch circle pan for the body of the monkey cake. For the ears we used two cupcake stacked on each other with the edge cut straight on one side.
For the tail and legs we baked a rectangle cake and froze it for two hours. When the cake was half frozen we took it out. It was much easier to cut the arm, tail and legs out. Also with it being half frozen it was breeze to frost the edges.
We seamed all the pieces together with frosting. With a smooth knife we frosted the entire body. To make the eyes round we used the top of a bottle cap pressed lightly into the frosting as guide. For the mouth outline we used a water jug lid. To make the frosting for the face and ears, we mixed white frosting with a little bit of brown.
We put the entire cake in the refrigerator overnight to set. The we used a star tip to create the fur on the monkey.
