Homemade Monkey Cake

This monkey cake was a lot of fun and easy! I baked two yellow cake mixes = four 8 inch rounds. I hand carved the monkey head. The hair on top is also carved cake.

I noticed the round edges of cake I had left over and decided to add the bananas! I only used three of the four round cakes. I used chocolate icing for the brown and vanilla icing colored with Wilton's concentrated paste for the colored areas.

This cake was fairly easy and did not take very long. It was made for a 12th Birthday Girl!
