Homemade Monkey Cake
This monkey cake was for my niece, who loves monkeys. We used a football shaped pan for the body, and a 5 inch on the face. We covered the face and nose in caramel wraps while still warm so the caramel smoothed right over it.
The tail was also a long rolled piece of caramel. The arms and legs are Twinkies. The eyes are mini Ritz crackers and Jr. mints. The hands, nose, feet and ears are cinnamon rolls and the fingers and toes are 100 calorie packs of nutter butters.
WE iced it first with chocolate frosting then piped over it making it look like hair. We also used caramel icing on the bottom of the feet and around the face, the center of the ears and the center of the body. We weren't very careful doing the piping for the hair because we wanted it to look like he had jungle hair.
It took us a total of about six hours, but it was so worth it she loved him so much she named him George and he went home in one piece.
