Homemade Monkey Face Birthday Cake

My mom and I wanted to make a very special monkey themed cake for my son's first birthday party. We searched everywhere for the perfect idea and came across this site. Our result of the Monkey Face Birthday Cake was different from all the other ones on here.

One lasagna sized pan and two pie pans. We used chocolate cake mix for the base (lasagna pan) and vanilla for the face and ears (pie pans). Baked cake according to box and let all pieces cool. Once cooled and hardened we iced the base with vanilla frosting and then placed one of the pie shaped cakes on top for the face of the monkey. Then iced that in chocolate frosting.

We then cut the second of the pie shaped cakes in half and placed next to the face and iced. We used banana runts, malt balls, and candy raspberry's for decorations.
